Butterfly Hearts Manga 1a

Okay, so here is page one of my character designs for my original manga....Butterfly Hearts! It's based (loosely) on the myth of Cupid and Psyche. I wanted to do an adaptation of the story since middle school, but the plot and characters didn't come to me until a few months ago.

EDIT! INPORTENT FACT: The reason I picked butterflies is beacuse Psyche is often, in classical art, depicted with butterfly wings. Plus, multiple mythologies from around the world link the butterfly as a symbol of the soul, which Psyche is the goddess of. (special thanks to haleliwil for pointing out to me that the title makes more sense if you know these two facts and that not everyone does. My bad You rock halei!)

PLOT SUMMERY: Cassie thought she was a normal girl with a good life; great bestfriend, awsome BF, all in all, pretty sweet. Till three goddesses of beauty tell her she is in fact Psyche, the Goddess of the Soul, and something stripped her of both her immortality and her memories. Very reluctently, Cassie begans to gather her MEMORY FRAGMENTS (shaped like butterflies). However, the more memories she recovers, the more she begins to suspect that someone or something, has been manipulating her emotions, and that everything she thought she knew and felt my in fact be a lie...

Characters

CASSANDRA "CASSIE" HARTSHOT - the star of the show. she transforms into BUTTERFLY HEART, Protector of Souls and Guardian of Hearts. Cassie is the youngest of three sisters, a middle school student, and apparently the reincarnation of the goddess PSYCHE.

EROS VALENTIN - the earth-bound form of CUPID, God of Love and Psyche's husband. He is a shamless (but harmless) flirt, which disgust Cassie to no end. She can not stand Eros, who always seems to annoy her boyfriend as well try to get her to go out with him. Eros actually cares for Cassie very deeply, which is why he doesn't reveal his true identity to her; he knows she is fustrated and confused by the changes in her life and he doesn't want to be a burden to her.

DEVLIN DARKOS - Cassie's boyfriend whom she has known since elementry, or at least, that's what she believes. Unknown to everyone (gods and goddesses included) Devlin is the force that stripped Cassie of her immortality and her memories. Cassie is completely loyal to him and he's determined to keep it that way. He knows who Eros truely is and therefore hates it whenever he so much as looks at Cassie. Devlin wants to posses Cassie's/Psyche's heart for reasons unknown. Just who or what he is will be revealed in the next page of notes.
